Which is about a man who begins to take a pile that allows him to access a 100 percent of his brain power, there are many people chasing him for this drug as he pull his way up the social ladder.

The producer use two big large men to make the audience believe the distort women is now safe. This evokes the feeling that the killer will be stopped and the women will be able to save her boyfriend. The director completely throws the audience off as the two big men are believed to stop the small scary killer but are completely wrong, as the men are easily dispensable and the chase continues. The silent music dose not give away what is going to happen and keeps the audience guessing what the conclusion of that part in the scene. However the sudden drop to a dangerous music help to amplify  the death of the two men, plus how easy it was suggest that the killer has killed before with make the amplifies the scene more as the audience now know how dangerous the killer now is. This is conventional to a thriller film as there are normally people in the way to help the person in trouble, these people throw off the audience therefore giving the film more suspense and making the film more thrilling.

The costume that was used in the scene from limitless has significance to the conventions of a thriller throughout the scene we see a man dressed in ordinary clothing not something that you would associate with a killer. However the clothing is very old and can give the effect of someone quiet weird this persona is kept from the very start of the scene. This highlights to the audience the man intentions are unknown and suggest that he may not be aiming to hurt her at the start therefore make the scene more intense and more entertaining. However the facial expressions of the man show anger and intent to hurt the women showing contrast between the killers costume and his facial expression.  Costume is part of thriller conventions as the killers are normally seen as wired characters.

The women is scene wearing all white the signifies that she is pure and innocent, this highlights to the audience that she has done nothing wrong and her life is in danger from know fault of her own. This is first seen when she notice the man following her in the cab. This  evokes the feeling that a innocent women can be killed for trying to save her friend/ boyfriend. This makes the audience want her to live and can have compassion for her. This is conventional of a thriller as the person being chased is normally innocent and has done nothing wrong.

Iconography is used in the scene from limitless. This signifies the conventions of thriller throughout the scene we see the killer draw his knife to kill or aims to harm the two large men; that are aiming to protect the young distraught women. This evokes the feeling that he aims to kill women as he kill two men to get two her. The writer regularly shows close up of the knife to highlight the importance of the weapon. This was firstly evident when the audience believe that that the woman was saved when the killer was told to leave her alone by two very large men. The killer draw his knife and kills both this shows the power and skill of the skill how he easily kills two much larger men than him evoking the feeling that he may have done this before.

The setting in scene limitless is conventional of a thriller film. The white ice rink evokes the feeling that everyone on it is inocent and is being put in danger by the killer. The lighting used in the setting is very bright showing the women is now clear of mind and her eyes have been opened; from the use of the pill. This contrasts with a few seconds before where low key lighting was used to make the setting look darker. The effect of this would be to highlight to the audience that the women is now smarter than the killer. This is seen as the women makes her escape across the ice rink as she is no longer scared of the killer and knows what to do to escape. The setting has comparisons with the setting as the white clothing worn by the young girl help to identify she is pure and innocent the in contrast with the bright setting and the white ice rink helps to identify she is pure and innocent giving a greater effect on the audience. In conclusion, the mise en scene emphasis the film natural feature giving a greater effect on the audience, therefore making the film more interesting engaging and more exiting. Without mise en scene the film the thriller genre would not be as attractive to the audience and would not as popular as it is today. The mise en scene helps to emphases certain points like the costume on the killer can set the narrative for the film, without this it could make the film less attractive to the audience leading to bad reviews.
